When we left the journey last time out we had suffered the indignity of going the whole of January without a win in the league.
Games against the "Big 6" are always hard but we had 6 back to back and it really dented our confidence. However we recovered and won 3 out of three through February.
We start March with a tough Midweek FA Cup 3rd round game at home to Chelsea.
March 2026
FA Cup 5th Round - Chelsea (H) 1-3
Chelsea have taught us a couple of footballing lessons over the last few meetings so there wasn't much expectation of a result.
They made changes but even their second string is full of quality. 3-1 loss and we were never really in the game. We gave a good account of ourselves in the domestic cups this year, something to look at in future seasons for sure.
Match 29 - Middlesbrough (H) 3-1
Back to the league and back to winning games.
It was all about the wide players as Jack Clarke grabbed a brace before his replacement, Vassi also got on the scoresheet late on. A comfortable win.
Match 30 - QPR (A) 2-2
A real missed chance at 3 points as we raced into a 2-0 lead through our talismanic striker, Bigongiari.
But we were punished for a 6 minute lack of concentration as QPR scored 2 quickfire goals to rescue a point.
Match 31 - Everton (H) 1-1
In a very even contest two second half goals were the only highlights of this encounter.
Bigongiari with the goal again.
Another unbeaten month in the league. Disappointed with the QPR draw and to be out of the cup but we have no complaints about that.
April 2026
Match 32 - Manchester United (A)5-0
THAT IS NOT A TYPO! MANCHESTER UNITED 0 - 5 WYCOMBE WANDERERS
In a game where I couldn't believe what I was seeing, goals from Bigongiari (x2) Almada, Gauld, Guendouzi and Clarke secured an historic victory.
We were absolutely unplayable and if I can figure out a way to get us to play like that every week then I've hit the jackpot.
Match 33 - Norwich (A) 2-1
The game was decided by goals at either end of the 90 minutes.
We took an early lead through Ferhat Hebert and didn't look in any danger until we were pegged back in the 85th minute from a set piece.
Luckily we have Bigongiari who secured all three points in the 92nd minute.
Match 34 - Tottenham (H) 2-2
More late drama in this game as we had thought we had secured all three points in the 86th minute through an OG only to concede again in the 87th minute.
Contento with our other goal.
Match 35 - Aston Villa (H) 1-0
I am not sure how many points Tomas Bigongiari has secured us but my word its got to be a lot.
He actually started on the bench this evening to give Contento a chance from the start after his goal last time out. A boring game destined for a draw until he was brought on with 15 mins to go.
It took him 5 mins as he fired home to secure all 3 points.
One draw off of a perfect month. Delighted with this string of results with the tone set by that massive result at Old Trafford.
A hattrick of awards for individuals at the club as Bigongiari is awarded the Player of the month and Young player of the month award.
An award for Me too as I scoop Manager of the Month.
April 2026
Match 36 - Brighton (H) 1-2
Our first league defeat in 3 months as we underperform against a resolute Brighton team. We took the lead through Vassi but conceded two second half goals. A disappointing collapse in our final home game of the season
Match 37 - Burnley (A) 1-1
This point was rescued by a slightly forgotten man in this journey, Ian Davenport. He was signed very early on and has progressed steadily however the emergence of Verhelst a few years ago and now Bigongiari this season has cased his Wycombe career to stall.
It was nice to see him finally grab a Premier League goal and hopefully it wont be the last we see of him in the light and dark blue quarters.
Match 38 - Watford (A) 2-0
Nice to finish the season on a high as two goals from Contento seal the last points of the season.
Result bingo in the last month as we record 1 win 1 draw 1 loss. Lets get into the season statistics.
Those two goals against Watford for Contento secured him the Young player of the month award for May.
Final League Table
defying expectations again as we finish 26 points clear of relegation. We missed out on a possible European debut by 5 points. Food for thought for next season.
Season Review
