S9 EP5 - Not One But Two Finals To Finish The Season.

Well what a little bonus episode this is.

We have waited 9 long seasons to make it to a major cup final and now we have two to compete in in the space of 5 days.

We start with the small matter of the oldest cup competition in the world, The FA Cup. We will then move on to the Europa League Cup Final.

So lets get on to the matches.

The FA Cup Final - Everton (N)

Everton had just suffered the embarrassment of relegation from the Premier League and were obviously out to prove their doubters wrong.

They exploded out of the blocks and took the lead after 20 minutes. I rallied the lads as I wanted to ensure we were back in the game before half time and I got an immediate response.

Jack Clarke made a fantastic run down the right hand side of the box, beat his man and put the ball on a plate for Lucas Sheldon to tap in at the far post.

1-1 at Half Time.

We started the second half the much better side, creating chance after chance after chance and it took our main man to finally take on of them.

Obispo dropped deep and collected a ball from the centre backs, he looked up and played a ball over the defenders for Henrique to latch on to. Henrique takes the ball down on his chest and fires hard and low beyond the keeper.

2-1 Wycombe in the 60th minute.

A 2-1 score line is never a comfortable one and Everton came into the game for the last 30 minutes.

This played into out strengths on the counter attack and we scored 2 goals in stoppage time through Viaene and Viotti to seal the biggest victory in the clubs history!

Wycombe Wanderers 4 - 1 Everton

WYCOMBE WANDERERS HAVE WON THE FA CUP

Europa League Final - PSG (N)

Four days after our first every major final we took part in our first ever European cup final.

It felt like we had home court advantage as the final was taking place less than 100 miles up the M40 at Villa Park.

PSG Had dropped down to the Europa League after failing to get out of the group and were run away winners of Ligue 1.

They also have a former Wycombe hero and hero of the journey in their starting 11, Maxence Verhelst.

We were obviously nervous and PSG started the better of the two teams. It was inevitable that PSG would take the lead and they did in the 13th minute.

For all their intricate football they punished as at a set piece as Upamecano beat his man to head in. 1-0 PSG

We needed to wake up after that goal but we didn't and we were punished again from a set piece. This time it was Martin Odegaard as he curled in a stunning free kick from 25 yards. 2-0 PSG.

We went into half time losing 2-0 and if I am honest we didn't deserve an more from that first half display.

We needed something special in the second half to get ourselves back into the game. Enter Marcelo Henrique.

We are fully aware on this journey of Henrique's quality but what I am about to describe to you is nothing I have ever seen.

An out swinging corner in the 55th minute from Almada was flicked on at the front post for a completely unmarked Henrique to tap home at the back stick., 2-1 PSG.

This woke us up like you would not believe and 4 minutes later we were level. A stunning ball from Viotti found Henrique about 40 yards out.

With no other Wycombe shirt in sight he dropped a shoulder to beat his man beat another with his pace and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net, 2-2.

The comeback was complete 10 minutes later as another stunning ball, this time from Almada put Henrique free who found the exact same corner of the net from just inside the box.

3-2 Wycombe and Henrique has just scored a 14 minute hattrick, in a European Cup Final.

We killed the game off brilliantly with PSG barely getting into our half for the next 25 minutes. I cant believe I am about to type this.

WYCOMBE WANDERERS 3-2 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN

WE ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS

What a season! top 4 in the league, FA Cup winners and Europa League Winners and we were rewarded accordingly...

We are getting close to the end of this Journey but there is one more stop to make, Premier League glory. Lets go get it.

Cheers
