S9 EP 2 - We Begin Our Europa League Adventure.

When we had left the journey last time out we had made strong moves in the transfer market and had a decent start to the season.

This episode will cover three full months of the season including the group stage of the Europa League.

So lets get straight to it

September 2028

Match 5 - Newcastle (H) 0-3

Wow what a poor poor performance and so disappointing after our decent start. I had made some changes to prepare for the away game in Europe on the Thursday but this was still not good enough. Real work to be done.

Europa League Group B Match Week 1 - Ajax (A) 1-1

We got off to the best of starts as Almada converted a penalty after Henrique had been tripped in the box.

We played well and deserved our lead heading into the break.

Ajax started the second half a lot better than we did and were rewarded in the 58th minute. Both teams pushed for a winner but there were no more goals. A strong point away from home.

Match 6 - Bournemouth (A) 3-0

A much improved performance from the Newcastle debacle. Lucas Sheldon put us ahead in the first half and late goals from Rodas and Henrique sealed a comfortable victory.

League Cup Third Round - Rotherham (H) 2-0

I wont lie, I made 11 (Eleven) changes for the visit of lower league opposition.

After a poor first half i was concerned I had made too many but i stuck with the decision and it paid off eventually. Stefan Radovanovic and Cabellero scoring in the second half to send us through to the fourth round.

I will continue to put out a second string in this competition as we will see an increase of games due to the Europa League.

Match 7 - Southampton (H) 5-2

With a full rested first team we ran riot in the first half. Henrique clearly enjoyed his rest as he fired a first half hattrick. Obsibo making it 4-0 at half time.

Southampton grabbed a couple pf consolation goals before Sheldon rounded the scoring off to seal and emphatic win.

Europa League Group B Week 2 - FC Kobenhavn (H) 5-2

With confidence flowing through the team we again put a game to bed early as Henrique secured back to back hattricks.

Rodas and Contento scored 2nd half goals to really stamp our authority on the Europa League group.

The Newcastle game was a real blotch on what was a fantastic month. A strong draw against Ajax and back to back 5-2 victories were the highlight.

Some individual accolades were dished out and it is no surprise it is for Marcelo Henrique. He picks up the Young Player and Player of the month awards for September

October 2028

Match 8 - Chelsea (H) 4-2

For avid readers of this journey you will be aware of the beatings we have received at the hands of Chelsea. So this victory for me is the sweetest of victories.

I have our main man Henrique to thank as he bagged his third hattricks in three games. Sheldon grabbed his goal in the first half.

One hell of a performance!!!

Match 9 - Brighton (A) 4-1

We have really found our shooting boots this season so far and this game was no different.

2 first half Sheldon goals put us in control early in the first half. A collectors item from Guerra and it wouldn't be a Wycombe game if Henrique didn't get on the score board.

Europa League Group B - Week 3 -Panathinaikos (H) 5-0

I am running out ways to describe the class of Marcelo Henrique. He again scored a first half hattrick and scored his 4th in second half. Contento with the other goal.

Another statement in the Europa League and qualification from the group secured.

Match 10 - Aston Villa (A) 2-0

Our lowest scoring game in 5 games but a win none the less. Jack Clarke got us underway in the first half and of course Henrique sealed the win in the second half.

League Cup Fourth Round - Huddersfield (A) 0-0 Huddersfield win 4-3 on Pens

I kept to my League Cup plan and made 11 changes again like in the last round. We just couldn't break Huddersfield down and failed to score in the 120 minutes of football.

Losing in the lottery of penalties was frustrating but we can concentrate on bigger and better things.

Match 11 - Liverpool (H) 0-2

After a fantastic run in the league we were humbled by a decent Liverpool side. We didn't look like creating much and have no complaints.

A tough end to the month.

Two poor results at the end of the month still didn't detract from the positive start. A great result against Chelsea and another win in Europe were the highlights.

Well, well, well! He's gone and done it again. Henrique picks up back to back Young Player and Player of the month awards.

November 2028

Europa League Group B Week 4 - Panathinaikos (A) 4-0

With the performances being so strong in Europe and with some players needed some minutes i made a few cautious changes.

One of which was to rest Henrique and replace him with Bigongiari who hasn't really had much of a look in recently.

He rewarded me perfectly as he grabbed a hattrick to cement an easy victory. Enzo Ortega with the other goal.

Match 12 - Man United (A) 2-2

This game was defined by 2 late goals. We had gone into half time at 1-1 after the returning Henrique had dragged us back level going into half time.

The second half burst into life in the 91st minute as Jack Clarke thought he had won us the game. But just as quickly were we ahead we were pegged back as United went straight up the other ended and scored in the 92nd minute. Points shared.

Match 13 - Leeds United (A) 2-1

We were off to a fast start again as Jack Clarke scored against one of his old loan clubs to put us ahead in the 6th minute.

Our positive start was ruined by a reckless challenge from Lasse Hoel who was shown a straight red card in the 35th minute.

We went defensive an countered where possible and were given a huge boost as Leeds scored an own goal in the 66th minute.

We held out all the way to the 80th minute before Leeds made the last 10 minutes nervous with a deserved goal, but we left Elland Road with all 3 points.

Europa League Group B Week 4 - Ajax (H) 5-2

With ourselves and Ajax already qualified this was all about top spot in the league as qualifying top give you a bye for the First knockout stages.

We played like a team who wanted that top spot and put the game to bed early again. Two first half goals from Henrique and another from Jack Clarke had us 3-0 up at half time.

Another Jack Clarke goal and a Bigongiari goal settled an easy victory.

Match 14 - Tottenham (H) 2-0

These were games in the last few seasons that we were losing or at least dropping points. But this season seems different.

A dull first half went by before the main man Henrique got us underway. Jack Clarke again scored against a old team to make it 2-0 and secure all three points.

Match 15 - Burnley (H) 4-0

We really have made a habit of putting games to bed in the first half and this game was no different.

First half goals from Rodas, Sheldon and Henrique ended the game as a contest. A rare Stefan Radovanovic goal rounded of the scoring in the second half.

We were one 92nd minute equalised away from a perfect month.

What a series of results. Qualification secured in Europe and some brilliant league form has me dreaming of a brilliant season.

League Table

Sitting comfortably in 4th place only 5 points off the top spot this is by far our best start to a Premier League season. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season will bring.

A bit of club news as the stadium expansion agreed at the end of least season is completed. Adams Park is now a 32,000 all seater stadium.

Thank you all for reading I know its been a long episode but I couldn't stop playing during that series of games.

Catch you next time as we look to continue this cracking run.

Cheers Again
