The Far East Express - After a quick stop we are full steam ahead!

We continue this weird and wonderful journey in May and we will be covering a jam packed schedule all the way through August.

But First lets catch up on some club news.

Lets start with some negative news. Our new signing and first pick left back has put himself in the bad books with a trip to a night club.

Then, after feeling the wrath of Cha Bum-kun he picked up a hip injury in training. This is going to keep him out of action for up to 7 months and cost the club £800 in fees.

We also received another job offer, again from Peresbaya. They were more firmly turned down than last time.

Right we have done a lot of club and player updates on this journey, its time for some action.

May 2025

Match 5 - PSP (A) 0-1

After securing our first win of the season I was keen to keep up momentum early on in the season. Sadly we were thoroughly outplayed and lost 1-0 to an early scrappy goal.

Match 6 - Persiraja (H) 1-0

In our first of three home games in a row we put in a a gutsy performance to see off our much fancied rivals.

Dico with the only goal of the game in the first half as he smashed home a half volley from outside the box. A much better performance.

Match 7 - Barito Putra (H) 2-3

It took all of 25 minutes be 2-0 down to our visitors. We didn't deserve anything more.

A classic hairdryer treatment at half time appeared to do the trick as we dragged ourselves back into the game with goals from Ridwan and Riyanto.

However we couldn't hold on and conceded in the 90th minute to fall to a 3-2 defeat.

Match 8 - Persela (H) 3-1

Another home game and our best performance of the month so far.

Riyanto got us off to a flyer in the 5th minute when he smashed home from inside the box. We were level after 22 minute after period of pressure. Gunawan restored our advantage before half time and Riyanto secured the victory in the 63rd minute.

Match 9 - Persiba (A) 0-0

Not much to discuss here. An absolute bore draw.

June 2025

Match 10 - Persipura (A) 1-0

Another disappointing away performance in front of our 2 loyal fans who made the journey. 1 shot 0 on target. Very poor indeed.

Match 11 - Bhayangkara FC - (H) 1-0

A much better performance as we swapped to the 4-1-2-1-2 formation. Aided by a red card for the visiting team we scraped a 1-0 win with Riyanto on the scoresheet.

July 2025

Match 12 - Mitra Kukar (A) 0-1

The consistency needed addressing at this point as we are yet to to put back to back wins together. Another 1-0 defeat away but a better performance overall.

Match 13 - Arema (H) 3-2

We raced into a commanding lead against Arema as Gunwan and Riyanto were both on the scoresheet I the first half.

We were pegged back with two quick fire goals in the second half. 2-2 with 20 minutes to go.

We restored our advantage in the 79th minute when Rambe latched on to a lovely long pass from Dico and curled beautiful finish into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Indonesian Cup First Round - PSJS (H) 7-2

We dominated our lower league opponents from start to finish a hatrick from Ulhaq and goals from Dico, Riyanto, Kurnia and Rambe wrapped up a huge win.

This win came at a huge price as Riyanto was injured in the first half and ruled out. 6 weeks on the side lines for our top scorer and star player.

August 2025

Match 14 - Persija - (A) 5-3

An away match to title challengers Persija was up next. There was no sign of missing Riyanto as Rambe and a Kurnia double kept us level going in at half time.

Sadly we were out played in the second half and a two goals sent us home with a 5-3 loss.

Indonesian Cup Second Round - Sriwijaya FC (A) 3-2

Another trip to lower league opposition as we progress to the 3rd round. Not after a small scare. All the goals were scored in the first half as Rambe and another Kurnia double keep up their impressive scoring form.

Match 15 - Badak Lampung - (A) 0-2

Back on the road in the league and back with another defeat. Another poor game with little created.

Match 16 - Persebaya (A) 3-1

We really are a Jekyll and Hyde team, a stunning performance against a team that have approached me for the Managers role twice this season.

Goals from Rambe and Kurnia seal a victory in the last game of the episode.

The Table

20 points is almost halfway to matching our total from last season and we sit in 10th place.

We are so inconsistent! every positive result is followed by a defeat. Maybe we need to look at the recovery of the players or a better rotation system. With our performance in the cup I feel this has been a positive few months of the season.

Long way to go in this journey but as we pull into the next station for a quick stop there is lots to look forward to.

Cheers

Panda
