Wycombe Wanderers S2 EP6 - Season finale and Review.

Updated: Mar 6, 2021

With safety secured in the last episode it was clear to see that complacency had set in amongst the squad.

With nothing really to play for other than league position the results were poor. A 1-1 draw with Barnsley followed by back to back defeats to Stoke and West Ham.

A draw at home to Bournemouth and an away defeat to Bristol City followed.

We Finished the season strongly at with a 3-1 home win to West Brom.

The final league table is below. Amazingly we finished in the same spot of 13th with the same points of 57 as the first season.

West ham and Brentford were promoted automatically into the Premier League, with Sheffield United winning the Play-offs.

Millwall, Luton and Swindon Town were relegated into League 1.

Onto our end of season review.

We were again described as the leagues "Surprise Package" and defied all expectations to stay up.

The stadium expansion was completed and ready for the new season. A new capacity of 12,869 will see us break club record attendance next year but ideally we need to expand more.

I dipped into the free transfer market at the end of the season too. Bringing in American Left back Andrew Gutman from Celtic to replace the retiring Joe Jacobson.

We stayed shopping north of the border as we also signed Target man Sam Cosgrove from Aberdeen.

Its going to be another tough season next season but I'm hoping to see some improvements in League position and points.

Cheers
