After another season of defying expectations in the league we were given the measly war chest of 1.8 Million with a wage budget of 83k.
I think its time to let some of the original squad leave for pastures new, and this budget announcement confirmed this needed to happen.
Firstly there were changing made to the staffing. Andrew Howard, our director of footballs contract expired and I decided against renewing it.
I was given a opportunity to hire someone with a top class reputation and a wealth of experience his name...... Neil Warnock.
Our first move in the transfer market was to sell. We were approached by Stade Rennais about the availability of Josh Bowler.
Josh was a loan signing in our first season and a permanent signing in our second season for 21k after impressing on the left wing.
The offer of 1.6 million was too good to turn down and the huge amount of profit made on Josh really pleased the board.
The board added the majority of this back into the budget and I went on the hunt for a permanent solution to the goalkeeper issue after losing Allsop in January.
We picked up promising Goalkeeper Bishop from Manchester United on a free transfer. One for the future for sure.
The Number 1 jersey will be handed to Brad Collins who was signed from Barnsley for 250k. Brings in some good experience and in his mid 20's he can hold down this position for a while.
The only other two signings were both on loan and both wide players.
Danny Loader is a versatile winger who can operate on either flank and Mikey Johnston is a out and out left winger which will add a different option to our usual inside forward positioning on the left wing.
Along with the departure of Josh Bowler, we saw Alex Pattison and Uche Ikpeazu leave for a combined 255k.
We also let three of our brightest your players leave on loan. All to Bolton and all in search of invaluable first team football.
Alongside the additions of Gutman and Cosgrove, we have definitely improved our first team options as well as added depth in key positions.
This could be the start of a very good season for us.
Cheers
