Hometown Hero - Introduction Episode.

After the premature end to our previous save due to data base issue we embark on a slightly shorter journey and one definitely closer to home, My home town club of Maidenhead United FC.

I have had the pleasure of living in and around the Maidenhead area for all of my life and Panda Towers is within earshot of the world famous York Road, you can hear the cheers of the fans on a Saturday afternoon.

For those of you not familiar with the famous black and white stripes of Maidenhead United FC then here is a quick overview.

Situated in the county of Berkshire the club has some fascinating moments in history.

Founded in 1870, Maidenhead United, also known as The Magpies play in a classic Black and White striped home kit.

They were one of 15 clubs to play in the inaugural FA Cup competition and went on to make the quarter finals three times. in the late 1800's

They have spent their entire existence playing at York Road. A 4500 capacity stadium with one seated stand holding 550 (Pictured)

York Road is acknowledged by The Football Association and FIFA to be the oldest continuously-used senior association football ground in the world by the same club.

The recent performances on the pitch have been good with a steady rise up the league tables since 2014/2015. The clubs sole Honour coming in the 16/17 season when the club won the Vanarama National League South. Long may that continue.

We find ourselves in the Vanarama National and this is where we pick up the reigns and hopefully take this historic club to heights it has never seen.

Save Aims and Rules

To make it more interesting lets introduce a few Aims and rules for the save.

Aims

  • To become a professional football team for the first time in the clubs history.

  • Become a League Club.

  • Win some major silverware.

Rules

  • Only Sign English Players

This may sound like an easier save rule, however I like the idea of limiting the scope of our signings.

  • Promote 3 Players a season from the youth intake into the first team squad.

This will focus the save upon developing the local lads to become the future of the club.

  • Fill the backroom staff with former players and legends along the way.

This will add a different twist when trying to improve the clubs standing. Developing staff as well as players.

I cant wait to get back into the swing of things after a quiet month or so on the FM Blogging scene. I hope you enjoy the journey.

Cheers

Panda
