The Making of Mousehole AFC - Part 3

Writer's picture: SadPanda333SadPanda333

We had a fantastic start to the journey in our first season in charge at Trungle Parc! If you missed the last episode you can catch up here.

This episode we will be covering everything that's happened Since the end of last season.

After our sensational Playoff success we find ourselves competing in the Southern League Premier South. This is of course the highest level the club has been in its history. We are in unchartered waters!

This is the 7th tier of the English football pyramid and promotion from this league take you into the National League South.

Off the Field

With the promotion certain opportunities have become available.

Last season out of our three youth teams only our Under 23's were in competitive competition. This season our under 18's have been invited to take part in the National U18 league.

This will be huge for the development of our younger players.

Board Expectations & Budgets

With expectations in the league low it is basically a free swing in this league. Hopefully we can achieve more than just "Attempt to avoid Relegation"

We will again be focussing on getting a far through the qualification rounds of the Cups also. They really are a cash cow and hopefully a nice little earner to help balance the books.

Speaking of the books, we have an actual transfer budget! However we will be putting it into our Scouting budget and Wage Budget as we continue to wheel and deal in the transfer market.

Transfer Activity

Some improvements all over the field were needed to challenge at this new level. Lets have a look at the ins and outs.

We shall start with the outs.

Unfortunately a mixture of players who weren't going to be in our plans and some who were starting to decline as a player. One notable inclusion in this list, Josh Grant.

Our Talisman last season. He wasn't happy accepting a slightly less important role in the new season so we decided to let him go.

Lets have a look at some of the Key signings here, including our first Loan move of our tenure.

Evander Grubb joins us on loan from Taunton Town. A perfect replacement for Josh Grant.

He has been on my radar since scoring against us last season for Bristol Manor Farm in the league and I was delighted to secure him for the season.

Zak Baker joins us as our new First choice 'keeper.

After his release by Plymouth he was sought after by a host of clubs. Another very pleasing signing.

The last key signing of the summer is Charlie Veevers. A product of Manchester United's academy, he was released by Swansea.

A very technical central midfielder he will be the heartbeat of our creativity!

Pre Season

A classic Pres season under our belt as we faced some local teams and one league team in Swindon. A good fitness test for the boys in the build up to the season.

We are ready to go! I am so excited to test ourselves at the next level of the Football League pyramid.

Join us next time for the season 2 review!

Cheers

Panda
