Hometown Hero S2 EP1 - Time to improve and Evolve this team.

Before we get started lets have a little reminder about the save and the self imposed rules we are working with.

If you want to start from the beginning of the journey you can do so here.

Save Rules & Aims

Aims

  • To become a professional football team for the first time in the clubs history.

  • Become a League Club.

  • Win some major silverware.

Rules

  • Only Sign English Players

This may sound like an easier save rule, however I like the idea of limiting the scope of our signings.

  • Promote 3 Players a season from the youth intake into the first team squad.

This will focus the save upon developing the local lads to become the future of the club.

  • Fill the backroom staff with former players and legends along the way.

This will add a different twist when trying to improve the clubs standing. Developing staff as well as players.

Club Vision & Expectations

Lets see what the board is expecting of us this season.

Obviously the board are still delighted in our surprise top half last season, and have tasked us with avoiding relegation again.

Transfers

Lets check out our transfer business.

The outs will not take long to cover as we said good by to back up goalkeeper Harry Palmer to Fleetwood.

Now for the players we have brought in to help with the playoff push this season.

Harry Brooke - An all round midfielder but will mainly play in that slightly more defensive role. I see him as a perfect midfield partner for Kane Ferdinand.

Lewis Payne - I was unable to tempt last seasons young loanee from Reading to the club on a permanent deal so i had to dip into the market for a starting right back. There is some development to be done but I have confidence that he will come good.

Tyler Denton - More defensive reinforcements, this time at left back. Another troublesome position last season. Another positive improvement.

Jack Seddon - You'll be surprised to hear that this is another defensive signing. This time at Centre Back. Alan Massey has lots to offer still, but at 33 he will need rest periods and strong back up.

Promoted Youth Players

As part of out journey we set the challenge of having to promote at least 3 players from the previous seasons Youth Intake.

Lets see who we are promoting this season.

Jermaine Sparrow - He was the star recruit last season and will be an able back up to Josh Kelly. You'll notice that he has already been called up by Gibraltan national team and grabbed himself a goal in the process.

Aiden Callaghan -A young right back who is some way off of the first team but will act as emergency cover and hopefully can improve as we go.

Hugo Smith - Lastly we have a young Goalkeeper who will take up the back up mantle after Harry Palmer's departure. Hopefully he will have time to develop as a back up as there is real promise there.

Season Preview

Lets see how we fare in the seasonal preview.

An improvement on last season, so hopefully that is a sign of things to come.

Pre Season

As always Pre season was more about filling the bank account than anything else. As usual it worked.

Tactics & Starting Line-up

The tactic itself will not change due to its success last season, however you will spot most of the new faces in planned starting line up.

Well that is us ready to go for the new season. I am very excited with the additions we have made as well as the players we have promoted through the academy.

Its going to be an interesting season.

We will get straight into the action on the next episode!

Cheers
