Hometown Hero S3 - Long Awaited Season Review

So, it's been a while! I want to start by thanking you all for your patience and support whilst I have been dealing with some stuff outside of the FM universe.

This episode will not be as in depth as we usually are just due to the time we've been away and not being prepared. The aim is to get back up to full speed for the next season.

Now let's get to it!

Before we get started let's have a little reminder about the save and the self-imposed rules we are working with.

If you want to start from the beginning of the journey, you can do so here.

Save Rules & Aims

Aims

  • To become a professional football team for the first time in the club's history - COMPLETED

  • Become a League Club - COMPLETED

  • Win some major silverware.

Rules

  • Only Sign English Players

This may sound like an easier save rule, however I like the idea of limiting the scope of our signings.

  • Promote 3 Players a season from the youth intake into the first team squad.

This will focus the save upon developing the local lads to become the future of the club.

  • Fill the backroom staff with former players and legends along the way.

This will add a different twist when trying to improve the clubs standing. Developing staff as well as players.

August, September & October 2023

Now the results tailed off but is that not the most satisfying schedule pages you've ever seen.

Rocketed off to a good start but as we can see October was a worrying month.

November & December 2023

Another tough two months as expected with only 7 points won from a possible 30.

January 2023

A little better but we are still producing form that has teams relegated before. With that being said I decided to dip into the loan market for some reinforcements.

Billy Heaps - On loan from Spurs, will offer some extra quality in the centre of the park.

Daniel Kanu - On loan from Charlton Kanu will offer a more potent threat up top. Couple this alongside a serious injury to Josh Kelly it was a key acquisition.

William Thompson - On loan from Reading, more reinforcement in the centre of midfield.

February, March, April & May 2024

The results in February and March remained as they had been all season, but we really saw an upturn in performances during April and May, just when we needed it most.

An unbeaten run in picking up 10 points saw us over the line, just ......

Final League Table

A full 6 points clear of the relegation zone by the end of the season and considering where we were predicted to finish and the issues we have had adapting to the football league.

Season Review

Thank you so much for sticking with the save during my hiatus. Things should now be returning to normal and I can't wait to get back into a steady rhythm of episodes again.

Next episode will be back to the old format with a lot more detailing and storytelling as we try and solidify our position in the football league.

Cheers

Panda
